Product Control is a division of Global Finance. Product Control ensures traded products are fairly valued, correctly accounted and disclosed, with prudent valuations and accurately reported to our regulators. Gurgaon Product Control is the offshore service Centre comprising a team of 140 supporting our global trading centres and comprises the Accounting Control Team, the EMEA Satellite Sites Team and the Hedge Accounting Team.
Lead, supervise and mentor the offshore EMEA Sat Sites Product Control team based out of Gurgaon to instill a challenge mentality with a strong client focus.
Develop a strong team of product controllers with sound technical understanding and deep bench strength and back-ups
Build and maintain on-going relationships with key senior stakeholders in onshore and other offshore locations including the Markets Front Office, On-shore PC, Regional PC, Wider Finance, GM Middle Office and audit and control functions
Deliver timely and accurate daily and periodic reporting with high degree of governance and auditable controls
Ensure timely and efficient operation of key PC processes/controls operated onshore or offshore in areas of daily valuations, market data controls, daily P&L attribution and analysis, OMRC, Balance Sheet Reconciliations and controls, Fair Value Adjustments, Prudent Valuation Adjustments, Balance Sheet Substantiation, regulatory reporting, internal reporting etc.
Grow Gurgaon footprint by showcasing high quality service delivery and centralization benefits, especially productivity improvements that meet business needs
Drive optimization of cost/headcount for the team utilizing process excellence, automation, and standardization
Operate and maintain a strong control environment that prevents financial and/or reputational loss to the Group and drive timely remediation for all operational risk matters including those relating to offshore and outsourcing delivery, internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
Conduct the site Valuation Committee meetings and ensure the forum is meaningful with key issues highlighted, discussed, remediated with proper documentation.
Qualified Chartered Accountant or equivalent accounting qualification, MBA (Finance) from a leading management institution with at least 8years of experience
Knowledge of Product Control functions in a banking environment would be an advantage and exposure to multiple front office systems
Intermediate to advance knowledge of Greeks
The individual should be fully conversant with the fundamentals of financial control in a banking environment.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite; MS Excel/ PowerPoint (essential), Project Management Software (preferred), MS Access database (preferred)
Proven ability to manage change / operational excellence with strong skills in organisation, collaboration, time management, prioritisation and analysis, leading to achieved results
Orientation towards Quality (Six Sigma/Lean methodology)
Interpersonal skills: work effectively with senior and junior staff across multiple teams and geographies, raise constructive challenge, give and receive feedback positively, persistence, etc
Exposure to diverse/multi-culture work environments
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and presentation skills
Experience of dealing with Front-office traders, in particular demanding traders or managing difficult situations such as trading errors
Experience of managing a team, including performance appraisal and objective setting, giving constructive feedback and mentoring more inexperienced staff, experience in carrying out 4-eye checks and supervise work performed by others
