Job Designation- Legal Docket Specialist
Purpose of Role-
Accurate tracking of patent records is critical for SABICs growth initiative through innovation. Key responsibilities of this Patent Docketing Paralegal role are accurate and timely maintenance of SABIC-wide patent database containing over 11,000 patent records across all SBUs. The Patent Docket Paralegal interacts with inventors globally, Senior Intellectual Property Counsels, Intellectual Property Directors, outside law firms, Intellectual Property Coordinators, and other Patent Docketing Paralegals. Create crucial accurate periodic reports as required for Intellectual Property Directors and Chief Intellectual Property Counsel to track SABICs global patent portfolio.
Generate project number for new invention disclosure submitted by inventor & upload in the Memotech database. 20%
Systematically maintain Memotech database per the Memotech docketing manual by updating entries as necessary and coordinating synchronization of data between Memotech and CPA for annuity payments. 30%
Processing all incoming mail/correspondence (assignments, filing receipts, office actions, IDS, ADS, search report, etc.) from inventor / attorney/ outside law firm for patent docketing purposes, including uploading documents into the appropriate folders of Memotech. 20%
Distributing files after docketing to appropriate person/team to handle prior art search. 5%
Coordinating with inventors , attorney team and outside counsel for declaration & assignment documents. 5%
Prepare periodical reports for Senior Intellectual Property Attorneys and Intellectual Property Coordinators reflecting statistical information e.g. number of filings and number of open disclosures by SBU and by STC. 10%
Running a variety of customized reports from Memotech for patent application/ project status on request from Senior Intellectual Property Attorneys & Intellectual Property Coordinators. 10%
Experience (technical, functional, and/or leadership experience required)
2-5 years of patent docketing experience with international law firm and/or global company
Experience in professional correspondence with global Intellectual Property counsels
Experience in petrochemicals or chemicals industry preferred
Experience in handling docket management systems/tools like Memotech preferred
Salary: INR 5,50,000 - 8,50,000 P.A.
